Tonbridge Daily Snippet

Tonbridge Castle and Castle Lawn

Tonbridge Castle was built in the 11th century by Richard Fitz Gilbert who was a half brother of William the Conqueror.  Richard was responsible for governing England during the many absences of the King William I.

  1. When we went to Bayeux we went to see the tapestry, in the exhibition it has about the conquest and there they show the first castles built in the first years of the conquest.
