New spot for banners

There was a great deal of disappointment when the path from the Watergate area to Castle Lawn was closed. Many of us had used the footpath for years and were sorry to lose the facility.  Community clubs and societies also raised concerns that they would no longer be able to use the railings to advertise events. They needn't have worried as I spotted that the lower railings along the river are now the new place for banners.

What do you think?

The temporary tarmac has been broken up and taken away, and the new clay pavers are slowly taking shape at the Watergate by Big Bridge. What do you think of them?

Stones or Tarmac?

Slowly over the past year the area around the Watergate was beginning to look like patchwork as a number of broken stones have been filled in with tarmac. Apparently the original stones had short longevity, and were prone to cracking which probably happened when vehicles mounted the area. Consequently it was decided some of the slabs could present a danger to pedestrians and these were removed, and replaced by tarmac.
At present there is work underway in this area. The many damaged slabs are being removed and boken into small pieces.
But what will appear in place of the slabs? Hopefully the area will be paved with suitable paving and not tarmac.
Does anyone know?
