Creative military designs by Hillview pupils

The fashion and textile pupils at Hillview School have created military themed designs influenced by British Army uniforms. These were on display at the entrance of Angel Walk during the British Legion Busking day in Tonbridge High Street. 

A number of pupils were modelling the creative items in the town to help collect donations for the Royal British Legion. Well done girls!!!!

Magic Moments in Tonbridge

Magician, Jordan Barker, was on stage at the Angel Centre last week, working with the charity 'Fixers', helping to make Tonbridge smile.

The Hillview 6th Former is becoming quite a celebrity for his magic tricks. His performance in Tonbridge was filmed by Meridian TV and will be screened next Monday on March 7th. Helping their magician friend on stage were a number of Hillview 6th Formers including Tom Garland, Emma Knowles, Chloe Lindford, Shems Ghali and Lex Wallace.

Jordan is also the current world record holder for throwing a playing card. Watch out for him next month when he will be making an appearance on the BBC's Guinness World Record programme.

Tonbridge Lions - Young Ambassador Award

Jennifer Goodwin, a student at Sackville School, gained recognition for her work in the community when she won the Tonbridge Lions Young Ambassador Award competition last week. 

The judges were particularly impressed by the range of Jennifer's work. She has raised £600 in a sponsored run for charity, helped at an after school club and is part of a team raising money to build a school in Africa.  Jennifer is donating her £100 prize money to Mind, the mental health charity for which she is planning to volunteer.

Rebecca Fletcher, the runner up from Hillview School, is donating her £50 to the Scotts Project, a local charity helping people with learning disabilities.

As a result of her victory, Jennifer will now represent Tonbridge Lions Club in the SE District competition on 25th November.

Boys Wanted For Streetdance Crew

Adversity Street Dance is the new and exciting streetdance class in town.  This time the girls are going to be disappointed as the crew is for boys only, aged 14 to 18 years.  

The crew will be led by streetdancer, and personal trainer, Henry Adekoya from Strictly Funky Street Dance who will guide the class through all the dance moves. It's also a fun way of keeping you fit. So, whether you come alone or with friends you'll have a great time. 

Classes will be at Hillview School for Girls on Thursday evenings 4.15 to 5.15pm and the fee is £15 for 8 weeks.
