Family Fun Day

There was a lot of candy floss spinning happening in the High Street on Saturday as Christ Church celebrated the second anniversary of the opening of their cafe with a massive family fun day.

While some children bounced on the inflated castle, others were being transformed into reptiles and butterflies by Tonbridge professional face painter Desiree of Party Faces R Us. In the centre of all the frivolity local children's entertainer Uncle Doughnut was creating weird and wonderful balloon sculptures to adorn even the smallest of heads.

For the family event the cafe's sliding doors were opened to the High Street and shoppers stopped by for lunch, the terrace at the rear of the church was turned into a sizzling BBQ area, and Elle's Cupcakery was doing a brisk business with her 'simply scrumptious' cakes. In fact I had an interesting chat with Elle, who whilst in Australia learned a great deal about food allergies through the children she was caring for.  She now specialises in producing cakes for children and adults with allergies.

The family event was organised by Emma Laird, her boyfriend Matt and Emma's mum who are all members of the church.

  1. Desiree was a fantastic face painter, and so good with my little Emily. Elle's cupcakes looked lovely (as she does!), although I had just eaten so refrained. Well done Emma for organising
