Tonbridge Daily Snippet

Thirty cottages in Priory Road known as 'salubrious' and built by The Railway c1844 for their employees gradually fell into disrepair, and by 1854 were known to have become unsanitary and knee deep in mud making them uninhabitable for the unfortunate residents. The railway refused to repair the cottages and would not give permission for anyone else to do so.
