Woodland Walk

A Fields in Trust plaque has appeared at each end of Woodland Walk in North Tonbridge.  Apparently this area has now become a protected space as part of a nationwide challenge to conserve outdoor recreational spaces in the communty as a permanent living legacy of the Jubilee and the London 2012 Olympics.

I had no idea that this had happened in Tonbridge until I was sent a photograph, and asked if I knew anything about it. So if anyone can fill in the gaps as to what the council have pledged to do with Woodland Walk, we would all love to know.

  1. Hi
I work for Fields in Trust so I think I might be able to fill in some gaps! You've got it pretty much spot on regarding the Challenge - the QEII Fields Challenge. We are working with landowners like your Council across the UK to preserve outdoor recreational space in perpetuity. And we're delighted with Woodlands Walk, being 26 acres!
Essentially it means the Council have committed, under a legally binding document, to always have this space there for the local people to enjoy. Great news eh?
There's a range of other benefits, including support from us to hold a celebratory community event on the site - Have a Field Day if they, or the local community wish to. More info is at www.fieldsintrust.org !
