Tonbridge Daily Photo

Tonbridge Daily Photo #371
The new builds along Barden Road have taken shape, and it looks as though they will have fantastic far reaching views over the Medway and the Sportsground. However, one can't help but feel sympathy for the residents who have lost their open outlook behind the new homes.

Recognising Tonbridge Recognised

Recognising Tonbridge feature
Former Wesleyan Mission Chapel

There were a few recognitions of the Recognising Tonbridge feature and the stone inscribed with the words 'Infant School'. It is high on one of the apexes of the former Wesleyan Mission Chapel and school situated on the corner of Danvers Road and Barden Road.  The former Methodist school and sunday school was built in 1869.

Dave Morvan also recognised the building via Twitter.

Heavenly Bites

Treat yourself to the best cakes in town if not Kent!! The Enchanted Bakery in Barden Road bakes cup cakes to die for!!

This place really is a gem.  There is no place like it in Tonbridge.  It is slightly off the beaten track behind the station in Barden Road and yet a stone's throw from the High Street.  I popped in today and the cafe was full, which isn't really difficult as there are only four tables inside as it's a cosy set-up, and another outside at the front - great for a sunny day.  The word is getting around that the bakery produces the best cakes in the area.  Not only are they scrummy, they all look so perfect.

The decor is country chic, kind of Cath Kidston, with polka dot table cloths.  Shelves display brightly coloured ceramic cup cakes, home accessories and crafts which are for sale.  It's cosy, comfortable and spotlessly clean.

Not only can you indulge in all the sweet delights, the oreo and raspberry ripple cup cakes with pastel cream topping, but breakfast and lunch is also on the menu.

This place is like a secret you just can't keep to yourself.    Go and try it - you know you want to.
