The Courier stated it that it was The Gift Shop that was closing. The Gift Shop although, is closing the shop, it will still be trading online as www.annettesgiftshop.co.uk.
The Gift Shop does not like the poster being up and they have had customers how distasteful it is.
The Gift Box is making alot of fuss over nothing.
The Gift Shop has not been approached about any of this from anyone, includng The Gift Box and The Courier
I don't know why The Gift Box is makeing such a fuss over nothing. They decided to move to opposite The Gift Shop they should have moved to where there new shop, Grace, is and then they would not have a problem.
Another shop moving to internet only, thats why traditional high streets are doomed. But Annette, my virus checker (AVG) has problems with your "About" page and gives me this advice -
"This page may be a forgery or imitation of another website, designed to trick users into sharing personal or financial information. Entering any personal information on this page may result in identity theft or other abuse. You can find out more about phishing here."
In response to the above comments I would like to clear up a few things. The new shop, Grace that has opened opposite the post office is not connected to The Gift Box.
The reason the poster was put up in the window was due to an overwhelming amount of people thinking that we were closing down. Whilst the Courier did in fact report correctly that The Gift Shop was closing down, this was mis-understood by many people and as the Courier refused to print a clarification The Gift Box wanted to reassure customers that we were not closing.
It is indeed a shame that another shop on the High Street is closing. The poster was intended to clarify the situation and not to cause any offence and whilst we cannot please everybody we should all be doing all we can to support the independent retailers in the town and encourage people to use Tonbridge for their shopping.
Storm in a teacup! The Gift Shop and The Gift Box being opposite each other is/was good. People will walk up the town to TWO shops, but not bother for just one. That is particularly the case now that Grace have opened in the centre of town.
