Those were the days!!!

Who remembers the Birchwood Garage at Southborough? It was on the lefthand side just before going down the hill next to the common.

Here's an ad showing some of the cars on offer in 1968. I noticed they were all British, that the garage was closed on Sundays and I loved the line at the bottom that states 'Demonstrations with Pleasure'

And what about the 1963 yellow Austin Mini Saloon at £260 - Bargain

  1. I wonder if anyone remembers Caffyns garage from Tonbridge Hogh Street in the 1960s/1970s? There was an amazing concave window across the front, I recall passing this when walking with my father to the Saturday morning market (does that still exist, near the castle, there was a cattle market in the same place on Tuesdays).
I found your blog while searching for a photo of Caffyns. Unfortunately no such photo has yet turned up. If anyone has one, or knows of a book that includes one, I would be delighted to learn of it.
I lived in and around Tonbridge until aged 15, leaving in 1978. Clearly much has changed over the decades but there are still some recognisable features and it has been interesting to learn a little of today's population through this blog.

    1. You may find the search facility useful ... it's on the right hand side of Tonbridge Daily home page. Here is a blog post that will interest you.

There's also a Tonbridge Daily Facebook with older photographs and plenty of memories and comments about Tonbridge. Take a look.
