Tonbridge Flood in 1968

In 1968 parts of Cornwallis Avenue and Darwin Drive were flooded. It's very hard to believe but as the photos show it really did happen.

    I still have the camera I used and the photos of the Angel were taken by my late father.
    I went to the Big Bridge at about 9.30 (from the G&D pub) just in time to see the last bus get through. Luckily I was at the right end of the town but many people were stuck for the night.
    On the Monday morning I can remember the cracking of the shop windows caused by the tidal waves of the amphibian vehicles.
