Recognising Tonbridge Recognised
Although there were a number of guesses, only one person recognised the detail of the plaque above the door of the telephone exchange in Avebury Avenue. Formerly at 94 High Street (now Weatherspoon's) the exchange moved to this building in 1939.

Before moving to Avebury Ave. I think the exchange was sited on the now derelict land between the river and the B&Q car parks.
ReplyDeleteHad another think, and if this one has been here from 1939 then the other one was a second string, as it was definitely there in the 1970's.
